Profit Margin Calculator
For pricing products, not stock trading margin. Find your margin from cost and price, or find your price from cost and a target margin.
Nothing you enter is sent to or stored by us. This runs entirely in your browser. Share puts your numbers in the link itself, so anyone who opens it can see them.
Common questions
Is this the same as a stock trading margin calculator?
No. This calculates profit margin for pricing a product you sell. A brokerage margin calculator, used for stock or options trading, is a completely different tool based on borrowing against your account, not product pricing.
What's the difference between margin and markup?
Margin is profit as a percentage of your selling price. Markup is profit as a percentage of your cost. The same dollar profit gives a lower margin percentage than markup percentage, which is why the two numbers above don't match.
How do I calculate margin from my cost and selling price?
Subtract cost from selling price to get profit, then divide profit by selling price and multiply by 100. Use "I know cost & price" above and this is calculated for you automatically.
What's the best way to set a profit margin for a new product?
Check what similar products sell for first, then work backward from there. Make sure your cost per unit includes shipping, packaging, and platform fees, not just what you paid for the item itself, or your real margin will be lower than this shows.
